Jersey Devil On Stage
I don't know about you but I find the Jersey Devil legend fascinating and love to learn more about him or "it". According to folklore, Mother Leeds was pregnant with her 13th child when she stated that she was giving birth to the devil. She went in to labor in 1735 on a very stormy night with her friends gathered around. Mother Leeds was rumored a witch while legend says the father was the devil. The child was born a normal baby but as the evening went on it transformed into a creature with a goat's head, hooves, bat wings and a forked tail. Before it escaped up the chimney it had killed the midwife while growling and screaming. It then circled all the nearby villages before heading in to the Pinelands not to be seen until 1890.
So you can attend The Pinelands Cultural Society's annual "Legend of the Jersey Devil" show at the Albert Music Hall in Waretown on Saturday, November 3rd complete with an appearance of the Jersey Devil himself during the 8:00 pm set. The program features a live stage concert of country, bluegrass and traditional music by bands in the tri-state area. Scheduled bands set to appear are Third Rail, River Drivers, Basement musicians, and the O'Neill & Martin Band.
Admission to attend the show is $5 for adults and $1 for children that are younger than 11 Doors open at 6 pm while the show runs from 7:30 - 11:00 PM. All proceeds will benefit the Pinelands Cultural Society and the Albert Music Hall Scholarship fund.
